Code of Conduct

Gotham Swords (also known as GEMAC) was created to promote the study and practice of Historical Fencing in its various forms.

To provide all participants the opportunity to benefit from classes and activities, we expect all attendees to engage in safe, cooperative, and respectful behavior.

As an organization we are committed to offering a safe, harassment-free environment for everyone, providing a safe venue for reporting mistreatment, working with anyone whose behavior does not meet our expectations, and engaging in open good-faith dialogue.

All Students, Instructors, Board Members, Staff, Attendees, Exhibitors, Sponsors, Associates, and Guests of GEMAC are subject to this policy without exception.

Prohibited behavior includes, but is not limited to:

If you feel you or someone else is in immediate physical danger call 911.

If you have concerns, we encourage you to first speak with an instructor; otherwise please contact a member of the GEMAC Board. All conversations in the reporting process are considered confidential.

Complaints will be addressed on a case-by-case basis. GEMAC instructors are expected to manage immediate concerns during their class sessions. Issues brought to the GEMAC Board will be discussed amongst the concerned parties and voting Board Members.

GEMAC leadership has sole discretion in determining what constitutes violations under this policy and reserves the right to take immediate action. This includes verbal warnings, expulsion from GEMAC events (with no refund), and refusal of admission to future GEMAC activities.

TL;DR — Be excellent to each other; party on dudes.
